FDA lifts ImmunoGen
Shares of Waltham-based ImmunoGen jumped after the Food and Drug Administration approved a first-of-a-kind breast cancer medication that targets tumor cells while sparing healthy ones.
The drug Kadcyla — from Roche and co-developed by ImmunoGen and South San Francisco-based Genentech — combines the established drug Herceptin with a powerful chemotherapy drug and a third chemical linking the medicines together. The chemical keeps the cocktail intact until it binds to a cancer cell, delivering a double-shot of anti-tumor poison.
New 'Destination' for Casual Male
Casual Male Retail Group Inc. is changing its corporate name to Destination XL Group Inc. to reflect its shift in focus toward its more profitable Destination XL retail stores and DestinationXL.com website.
The Canton-based men's clothing and accessories company said the name change will take effect Monday. The move comes after Casual Male changed its stock ticker symbol to "DXLG" in December.
Boston Properties eyes tower project
Hub mega-landlord Boston Properties is reportedly eyeing an office tower project at the site of a parking garage between Clarendon and Dartmouth streets in the Back Bay.
The property over the Mass Pike is next to a planned 33-story hotel and condo project at 40 Trinity Place and across Stuart Street from the Hancock Tower.
Boeing seeks solution for 787
Boeing attempted a major step toward getting its 787 Dreamliners flying again, proposing a fix for the plane's troubled batteries that could allow the flights to resume as early as April, congressional officials said.
The next question is whether the Federal Aviation Administration will agree to let the planes fly even though the root cause of a battery fire in one plane and a smoking battery in another is still unknown.
Organizer Ethos buys Boston Triathlon
Ethos, a mass-participation event organization specializing in sporting events, said it has acquired the Boston Triathlon and the Lobsterman Triathlon in Freeport, Maine.
